About Alexis E. Dutko

Biography

Alexis "Lexi" Dutko, SLP sees patients from birth through 18 years of age who are navigating a wide range of communication challenges. She specializes in working with children who have experienced hearing loss and/or traumatic brain injury. She also often treats articulation disorders (trouble with pronunciation) and assists kids who need support understanding how to engage and converse with others socially.

Lexi often leverages play-based therapy and emphasizes the importance of early intervention. She loves working with a variety of cultures and backgrounds, and particularly enjoys working with bilingual children and their families. She also has extensive experience partnering with interpreters.

Lexi loves building relationships with parents and helping them translate the strategies she uses in clinic to support ongoing progress at home. She believes in treating the child and family as a unit and meeting each person where they are instead of comparing to norms. She focuses on ways to help each child achieve the most functional outcome for their unique circumstances and environment.

Lexi earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education at Shepherd University and her master's degree in speech-language pathology at Western Kentucky University. Originally from West Virginia, Lexi loves to read, cook, and spend time outside hiking or caring for her beloved plants.
